  • The row over CHE sponsoring a piano recital in Tunbridge Wells carries on. The GLC’s guide for young visitors has mysterious blank spaces where gay information used to be. Harrogate Council decided, in a narrow 56–4 vote, to not invite CHE to hold their 1975 conference there.

  • Reviews include The Good Companions at Her Majesty’s, The Feminist Papers edited by Alice S Rossi, and Stevie Wonder’s Fulfillingness’ First Finale.

  • Fowl language – LONDON: Babs Todd… told us she was horrified recently by the sheer ignorance of a Labour Minister about homosexuality… She said the preamble to the [Sex Discrimination] bill should make it clear that [it]… covered discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation.

Which brought the extraordinary remark from Gerald Fowler [Labour, The Wrekin], of the Department of Education and Science, that such a move would “open the doors to pederasty” – a remark neither Educated nor Scientific.  – page 20

Inflation

To obtain approximate values for money allowing for inflation, times 1972 prices by 11.5; 1973 by 10.5; 1974 by 9; and 1975 by 7.5.

For instance, £1 in 1972 is £11.50 in today’s money.
