  • The Met Police’s on-going habit of arresting any young gentleman who dares to walk past the Coleherne for ‘obstruction’ continues to get a string of acquittals from the local magistrates. CHE and London Weekend Television have teamed up to make a half-hour programme to show that being lesbian and gay is normal. Traders in Malvern report being delighted at the good behaviour, and the money spent, by delegates to CHE’s conference last month.

  • Reviews include the book Sexuality and Homosexuality by Arno Karlen, Spring Awakening at the National, and Blazing Saddles in cinemas. David Bowie, temporarily going by just ‘Bowie’, released the album Diamond Dogs.

  • Gay mags wanted – MANCHESTER: The Campaign for Homo­sexual Equality Research Officer is gathering together gay magazines, newspapers, periodicals, leaflets, bulletins, newsletters and literature of any kind to form the basis of a research library. He would be glad to receive donations of any kind of material dealing with gay life and organisations.  – page 20

To obtain approximate values for money allowing for inflation, times 1972 prices by 11.5; 1973 by 10.5; 1974 by 9; and 1975 by 7.5.

For instance, £1 in 1972 is £11.50 in today’s money.
