  • What Have I Got to Lose

  • The Gay News editorial collective: Richard Adams (Design); Martin Corbett; Ian Dunn (Scotland); Denis Lemon; Glenys Parry (Manchester); Suki J. Picher; Doug Pollard; David Seligman; Jean-Claude Thevenin. Peter Holmes; and Julie Frost; Julian D. Grinspoon; Richard Turner; Peter Waldschmidt. Alistair MacDougall
  • Gay News special friends: Roger Baker; Ian D. Baker; Graham Chapman; Denis Cohn; Lawrence Collinson; Martin Grant; Antony Grey; Peter MacMillan; Sylvia Room; Manus Sasonkin; David Sherlock
  • Special thanks to: Richard & Norman; Ken & Allan; Michael, Angus & Ken and all the other Friends and Loved Ones.

  • Doug Pollard gets the cover with a story about a crime in New York that was notable enough to be made into the film Dog Day Afternoon starring Al Pacino. Meanwhile, Lilly Law has started to persecute the Keele Gay Liberation Society after many weeks of spying on them as they meet in a local pub; the usual modus operandi – accusing them of having sex with men aged under 21 – was used to drag them into court. Weymouth Council has withdrawn its offer to host CHE’s first annual conference due to the very idea being ‘disgusting’. Weymouth’s loss would be Morecambe’s gain. Reviews include Asylum (liked) and The Godfather (disliked).

  • Het of the month: Carmen Miranda

The first issue of GN I bought, from a newspaper stall in Newcastle-under-Lyme. I had no idea what a life-changing experience this would turn out to be.
