- The paper leads with what reads to modern eyes as something of a BDSM wank fantasy. The police have been keeping files on schoolteachers they suspect of being LGBT+. Kensington police have been policing the borough’s morals, demanding that Oz and several other publications are kept out of sight; they were, however, unconcerned about Gay News for once, and also paid no attention to IT, which had a cock on its cover. The BBC banned the video that accompanies David Bowie’s John I’m Only Dancing, substituting it on Top of the Pops with footage of people riding motorcycles.
