  • Merry Christmas and Peace on Earth! The main news feature this festive season is an interview with the new General Secretary of CHE, Howarth Penny. In the news, Redhill Technical College, now the Reigate School of Art, bans a pro-gay poster because two men holding hands is icky; the trouble at the National Union of Students stemming from them being horrified at Peter Tatchell holding up a (tame) poster in East Berlin continues; and Texas is considering banning a book for schools that might be a bit pro-gay because Texas.

  • Julian’s Singles, the semi-anonymous record review section launched in the last issue, is unanonymously credited at the end to Denis Lemon in this issue.

  • On that page is a sketch of three gay men enjoying sex practices, it’s purpose to advertise a magazine called ‘The Colt Album’. Is this kind of material something we should have in a newspaper trying to gain recognition in a predominantly straight world or for that matter any reputable newspaper. Please keep GN fit for the whole of society and not just the gay portion.
  •
  • In complete contrast is a photograph on the same page advertising a mag called ‘Superb Youth’. This photograph shows the artistic beauty of the human body. Something to be proud of. an asset to GN. – Jeff Blundell, letters, page 2.
