- Legalising homosexuality in New Zealand would lead to an epidemic of VD and breakdown of order and discipline, apparently. The Inner London Education Authority sack a teacher after a pupil saw him at a CHE rally. The paper and CHE look at whether same-sex couples can get a joint mortgage and find that the Anglia Building Society particularly welcomes us.
Reviews include John Vassall’s autobiography, Eskimo Nell at the Scene 2 in Leicester Square, and the operas Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci and The Magic Flute at the Coliseum.
- Male/female impersonators
LONDON: We could be flattered that there are people going around impersonating
Gay News staff but we’re not.
So, if someone comes along to your group, club, pub or whatever, claiming to be a GN reporter or from the ad department, then get that person to identify
him/herself.
We issue this warning after a recent case of deception, when someone (we know not
who) attended the first night opening of the Odyssey club in Victoria, claiming to be from GN. When another member of staff went along the next night, he was told by
one of the club’s directors that a GN staff-member had been in the night before making a scene about prices.
No one from Gay News went to the Odyssey on the first night, so we can only assume that the person who caused the fuss was an imposter.
Ask for identification! – p24
