  • The police have raided another magazine warehouse for handling gay-themed magazines and dragged nine people in front of the magistrates. “It is run-of-the-mill stuff as far as this type of magazine is concerned” says their defence counsel, but Sgt Norman Hunter has a different view: if you can’t get a publication in WHSmiths, then it’s clearly porn. The ABC in Australia has revealed that gay prisoners in Sydney are being forced into brain surgery to ‘cure’ them of criminality and, you know, bumming. Gay Switchboard has changed its number, having saturated their existing exchange with calls.

  • Reviews include the book Conundrum by Jan Morris, Off the Peg at the Arts Theatre Club, and Marilyn Monroe’s posthumous album Remember Marilyn.

  • Following the demise of FI Litho, GN continues to be printed on thinner, taller paper. Readers are divided on whether this is better or worse, so attempts are being made to find a source of thicker-than-newsprint, thinner-than-before paper.

  • Caught by the short & curlys – ISLE OF WIGHT: “The Court heard that while Mr Kennedy was in pursuance of his lawful business, ‘a very personal part’ was offered through a hole in the partition to an adjoining cubicle…. Mr Kennedy took off his belt, fixed it around the offending part, and tied the other end to the downpipe of the cistern. ‘The person on the other side shouted “ease it off,” but Mr Kennedy replied “You’ll have to wait until I’ve made a phone call.”‘
